Wilken, Moodley child pornography case to resume in Randburg court

The case against Darren Wilken and his girlfriend Tiona Moodley in relation to child pornography is expected to resume on Tuesday at the Randburg Magistrate’s Court north of Johannesburg.

Wilken and Moodley face 24 counts, including money laundering, possession and distribution of child pornography, and contravention of the Drug Trafficking Act.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) uncovered the accused’s involvement in distributing sexually explicit images of adults and minors via the dark web.

During their previous court appearance, it was revealed that investigators are still analysing 39 terabytes of data seized from hard drives found in Wilken’s possession.

It also emerged during their bail hearing that Wilken had earned over R3 million through illicit activities between 2023 and 2024.

Despite being unemployed, his girlfriend Moodley received R1.5 million into her account.

The couple has remained in custody since their arrest after their failed bail.
