Minister of Higher Education and Training, Buti Manamela outlines what constitutes his department’s ‘war room.’
Higher Education Minister Buti Manamela says the newly established ‘war room’ will tackle outstanding issues, including NSFAS allowance payments, accreditation of student accommodation and the finalisation of examination certificates.
Manamela says the ‘war room’ is made up of the Department’s leadership, NSFAS, universities and colleges, as well as the leadership from student formations.
Manamela briefed the media in Pretoria on the state of readiness for the 2026 academic year.
“We have regional offices, who have always helped us and provided us with support. Our regional managers and their teams have been helpful in providing us with support to assess the state of readiness in most of the campuses. They will be continuing to play that role and coordinate all the stakeholders at a regional level, to input into the national war room.”
