Two people were shot dead and three others injured in a mass shooting incident at the Europe Informal Settlement in Gugulethu on the Cape Flats on Sunday night.
Western Cape Police spokesperson Wesley Twigg says a man and a woman were shot dead and two men and an 18-year-old woman were left wounded.
Twigg says they found the victims with gunshot wounds to their bodies.
He says, “Police members responded to a complaint of a shooting and upon arrival on the scene, they found the victims with gunshot wounds to their bodies. The adult male and female were declared deceased on the scene by medical personnel, while the other victims were taken to a medical facility for treatment.”
Twigg says, “The motive for the attack forms part of the police investigation. The suspect/s fled the scene and are yet to be arrested. Anyone with any information about this shooting incident can contact Crime Stop on 08600 10111 or use the mobile application MySAPS anonymously.”
In another incident this weekend, three people were shot dead and another fatally stabbed in separate incidents in Kraaifontein, bringing the number of people killed in the area to 14 this past week.
