Gauteng Premier condemns attack on traffic wardens in Daveyton

Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi has strongly condemned the attack on five traffic wardens in Ekurhuleni.

The wardens came under fire at the Daveyton Railway Station on Sunday when they attempted to search twelve people during a routine patrol.

The two female and three male wardens are in hospital where they are being treated for gunshot wounds.

The suspects are still at large.

Premier Lesufi says this act of violence demonstrates utter disregard for the rule of law. Lesufi says they are working closely with the police to ensure that the perpetrators are arrested and face the full might of the law.

He adds that law enforcement agencies will not be deterred from doing their work in Gauteng.
