Mvelase’s family will not rest until his killers are brought to book

The Mvelase family says the untimely death of their son, Mthokozisi, was a great loss. The e-hailing driver was shot and torched outside Maponya Mall in Soweto a few weeks ago.

It is believed he was killed by taxi operators who objected to the presence of e-hailing vehicles at the mall.

His funeral is currently underway in his homestead of Ulundi in KwaZulu-Natal.

Mvelase’s brutal murder was condemned by the e-hailing industry and other sectors of society across the country.

His uncle, Doctor Khuzwayo, says his nephew was a respectful young man who was committed to his work.

‘He was a respectful young man who loved his mother dearly. The little he had he always shared with his mother. He was not addicted to drugs nor drank alcohol; he was just a respectful child.’

Meanwhile, Khuzwayo says the family will not rest until Mvelase’s killers are brought to book.

‘We want to receive reports from the investigating officers or the commissioner of police from Gauteng and we need an update and we want to know the progress of our son’s murder case.’
