FS man sentenced to life imprisonment for raping his daughter

The Sasolburg Regional Court has sentenced a 46-year-old man to life imprisonment for raping his daughter.

The court heard that in May 2019, the girl, who was 14 years old at the time, was lying on the couch at home when her father arrived and asked about her well-being.

She replied that she wasn’t feeling well.

Later that night, the man instructed the girl to sleep with him in his bedroom and during the early hours of the morning, he raped her and threatened her not to tell anyone.

Police say she, however, told her grandmother and uncle, who reported the matter to the police.

Meanwhile, in Phuthaditjhaba, Qwaqwa, a taxi driver has been sentenced to 16 years in prison for rape.

Police Spokesperson Mmako Mophiring says, “The 31-year-old taxi driver, Pule Moses Mohuli, has been sentenced to direct imprisonment for raping a 17-year-old girl in the industrial area in Phuthaditjhaba. The perpetrator led the victim into a taxi and took her to a secluded area where he raped her. She managed to escape and reported the matter to the police.”
