MIP Africa, an continental and international film and documentary festival and content market held this week at the Cape Town Convention Centre.
Cape Town has been turned into Africa’s creative capital this week, as MIP Africa and FAME Week 2025 light up the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC).
It’s the continent’s biggest content market where films, ideas and deals are made.
The KZN Tourism and Film Authority has, meanwhile, made its presence known in the Western Cape, backing emerging filmmakers, hosting powerful discussions and screening its own funded documentary.
Head of Communications Pinky Radebe explains what this showcase means for local jobs, storytelling and global partnerships: “MIP Africa is the biggest content market and being here as KZN Tourism and Film Authority is making sure we are present and that our stories are told, both as a film hub and a tourism destination. This being the continent’s biggest content market, as I said, is being here to meet where filmmakers can show their work to international markets and have engagements with our filmmakers.”
