Police confiscate counterfeit and undocumented cigarettes valued at over R7m across NC, WC, EC and FS.
Business operators who were allegedly found in possession of cigarettes worth over R7m around Colesberg, in the Northern Cape have been issued with a 7-day notice to provide original documentation for the goods.

The cigarettes were discovered during the inter Provincial Cross Border operation comprising of the police from Northern Cape, Western Cape, Eastern Cape and Free State.
Police Spokesperson Timothy Sam says they also discovered a consignment of counterfeit cigarettes valued at approximately R2.5m, which was seized along with a truck.
“Police discovered a further consignment of counterfeit cigarettes valued at approximately R2,5m, which was seized, as well as the truck,” says Sam.
He says the operation continued at a filling station in station road, Colesberg, where additional counterfeit cigarettes worth an estimated R590,000 were confiscated.
“The total estimated value of the seized cigarettes and the truck stands at R7,5m,” he adds.
