Scores of people including learners wounded in a bus crash in Limpopo

The Limpopo transport department says 39 people, including 30 learners from a special school have been wounded in a bus crash on the R71 at Magoebaskloof outside Tzaneen.

The wounded have been taken to three hospitals in the Tzaneen area.

The department’s spokesperson, Matome Taueatsoala, says traffic officers, emergency services personnel and police are still on the scene.

“We can confirm that a bus accident occurred on the R71 Magoebaskloof. Preliminary reports indicate a Department of Education bus was carrying 39 individuals. 30 children were from a special school. The accident scene is under control with our officers conducting point duty services as only one lane is usable. The details of the accident and the injuries will be available once the next-of-kin have been informed,” says Taueatsoala.
