The Tshwane Emergency Services has called on communities to be alert after the South African Weather Service (SAWS) issued a warning for extremely dangerous veld fire conditions over most parts of Gauteng. The conditions are expected from Thursday to late on Friday night.

City of Tshwane Emergency Services spokesperson Lindsay Mnguni says their teams are on standby.
“The impact of extremely dangerous veld fire conditions may include the Fire Danger Index (FDI) is above 75. Under these conditions, fires may develop and spread rapidly, resulting in damage to property and possible loss of human life and/or animal life. We call on communities to remain alert.”
