SAPS Crime Prevention Unit arrested a 44yr-old male during a stop and search for the possession of drugs, contravention of the Precious Metal Act
A 44-year-old suspect has been arrested in Malmesbury on the Cape West Coast for the possession of drugs, contravention of the Precious Metal Act, as well as contravention of the Financial Intelligence Centre Act.
Police spokesperson FC Van Wyk says members attached to Malmesbury SAPS Crime Prevention Unit received a tip-off about a vehicle transporting drugs, travelling in the direction of Malmesbury.
Van Wyk says members acted on the information and intercepted the vehicle, which was spotted on the N7, travelling towards Moorreesburg.
Van Wyk adds, “During the search, a small amount of cocaine as well as four small precious gold stones and cash to the amount of R141 000 and R280 were found hidden in the dashboard of the vehicle, which he could not give an account for. He was arrested and detained at Malmesbury SAPS. The suspect is expected to make his court appearance in the Malmesbury Magistrates’ Court once charged.”
