President Ramaphosa arrives in Tokyo for TICAD

President Cyril Ramaphosa has arrived in Tokyo, Japan, to attend the International Conference on African Development (TICAD).

Japan has extended an invitation to 49 African countries to attend the conference.

High on the agenda will be peace and stability around the globe and a focus on economic and social issues.

Ramaphosa will also hold bilateral talks with Japan’s Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba.

International Relations and Cooperation Minister Ronald Lamola says the TICAD conference is one of the key development partners for the African continent on a number of issues.

“Financing the Economy. Most Japanese companies have invested heavily in the African continent, with South Africa being one of the key beneficiaries. Some of the biggest Japanese companies have invested in our country, adding value through manufacturing. In terms of the value chain, when you look at the automotive sector…” says Lamola.
