The Democratic Alliance (DA) in Johannesburg says it has written to Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana and Auditor General Advocate Tsakane Maluleke to urgently investigate allegations of fraud, corruption and governance failures at the Joburg Roads Agency (JRA).
The party’s Caucus leader in the City of Johannesburg Belinda Kayser-Echeozonjoku says among the allegations is procurement irregularities in the rehabilitation of Lillian Ngoyi Street. formerly Bree Street, involving alleged inflated costs and questionable contractor appointments.
“This investigation must have key outcomes. We have requested that the following guidelines be followed. Expose instances of fraud and corruption. Recover funds lost through irregular expenditure. Ensure accountability,” says Kayser-Echeozonjoku.
