Manufacturing production up 1.9% year-on-year: StatsSA


Manufacturing production has gone up by 1.9%  year-over-year for June 2025.

StatsSA published on Monday the latest results for manufacturing production showing upward trend that continues since the marginal growth seen in May 2025 at 0.5%.

According to StatSA, the growth in manufacturing was driven largely by the food and beverages division which contributed 1.4 percentage points to the total of 1.9%, followed by the petroleum, chemical products, rubber and plastic products division, which contributed 0.4 of a percentage point.

Month-over-month manufacturing production was flat in June 2025 compared with May 2025, bucking the growth trend of 2.2% in May 2025 and 1.6% in April 2025.

In terms of sales, manufacturing sales grew by 2.4% in June 2025 compared with May 2025, which were driven largely by the food and beverages division contributing 0,8 of a percentage point and the motor vehicles, parts and accessories and other transport equipment division which contributed 0.8 of a percentage point to the final total of 2.4% growth.
