Gqeberha police pounce on suspected illicit goods warehouse

Police have illicit pharmaceuticals and other suspected counterfeit goods worth R2.2 million in Gqeberha in the Eastern Cape.

They include products such as viagra, skin bleaching creams, headache tablets, pregnancy test kits, toothbrushes, shoe polish and rodent traps.

Police spokesperson, Nobuntu Gantana, says the items were confiscated from a warehouse in Korsten.

She has urged the public to refrain from using unregulated pharmaceuticals products as they may pose severe health risks.

“Items such as erectile dysfunction medications, unregistered analgesics, and whitening creams may contain toxic substances or incorrect dosages, posing severe health risks in violation of the Medicines Act.”

No arrests have been made yet and the matter is under investigation.
