DJ Sumbody at an event
Police say the alleged mastermind behind the murder of Oupa John Sefoka, popularly known as DJ Sumbody, Katiso “KT” Molefe, has been positively linked to the murder of Hector ” DJ Vintos” Buthelezi. Buthelezi was gunned down outside a nightclub in Orlando East, Soweto in 2022.
Today Molefe and his three co-accused appeared in the Alexandra Magistrate’s Court, north of Johannesburg, for DJ Sumbody’s murder.
The accused are facing charges of murder, conspiracy to commit murder as well as possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.
“On the Dj Vintos case, we got all four accused which includes the alleged mastermind, Katiso Molefe and then on the Don Tindleni case we have only so far linked the three hit men, Katiso Molefe is not linked as of yet, to that particular case. So, Dj Vintos is four accused and don tindleni is three accused,” National police spokesperson, Athlenda Mathe explains.

Sefoka was killed in a hail of bullets in Woodmead in November 2022.
Molefe’s bail application was postponed to the 6th of August, due to his defence not being adequately prepared to proceed today.
The case against the other three accused, as well as Molefe, was postponed to the 18th of September for further investigations.
