Tiffany Meek denied bail in Roodepoort court

The Roodepoort Magistrate’s Court has denied bail to Tiffany Meek, who is accused of murdering her 11-year-old son, Jayden-Lee Meek, in May.

Meek faces charges of murder, crimen injuria, and defeating the ends of justice. She has been remanded in custody.

Magistrate Anneline Africa ruled that Meek failed to prove her release would be just or in the interest of justice.

Judge Anneline Africa delivered the judgment on Tuesday.

“The applicant has shown that she has the ability to defeat or obstruct the administration of justice by causing other persons to be suspected and attempting to defeat or obstruct the cause of justice, by placing Jaden’s body outside her unit or stairs to create the conclusion that the child was harmed elsewhere. If the applicant has the ability to deceive without his attention, then surely the applicant has the ability to influence witnesses, especially her family. She will likewise have the ability to undermine those who jeopardize the objectives of the proper functioning of the criminal justice system.”

The 31-year-old was arrested earlier this month.

The child’s bruised body was found outside their Fleurhof flat just a day after Meek reported her son missing.
