EFF leader Julius Malema
The Economic Freedom Fighters will today celebrate its 12th anniversary at the Khayelitsha Rugby Stadium in the Cape Flats, Cape Town.
The celebrations come at a time where the party has faced a leadership shake-up where some top officials have resigned from the organization.
The EFF’s programme is expected to begin at 10 am with party leader Julius Malema expected to deliver the keynote address around lunchtime.
At least 10 000 EFF party supporters are expected to descend onto the Khayelitsha Rugby Stadium to listen to what president Julius Malema has to say during his keynote address.
This year’s birthday celebrations come at a time where former Deputy President Floyd Shivambu and former national spokesperson Mbuyiseni Ndlozi have left the EFF.
Since then, the party has elected its national leadership which saw former secretary-general Godrich Gardee being elected as the party’s deputy president and Thembi Msane as the national spokesperson.
There is a heavy police presence in the area.
