EFF Leader Julius Malema.
The case against EFF leader Julius Malema and his bodyguard Adrian Snyman for discharging a firearm in public area has been postponed to the 29th of August for judgment.
The state and defense presented their closing arguments on Monday in the East London Regional Court, in the Eastern Cape.
The duo is facing charges of unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition and discharging a firearm in a public area.
The incident occurred during EFF’s 5th anniversary celebrations at Sisa Dukashe in Mdantsane in 2018.
Malema says he is confident he will be acquitted on the charges he is facing.
“The case has crumbled before the magistrate. The prosecution messed up the case and they must take responsibility. It’s always the case when you pursue politics instead of pursuing the law. Whether you like the person or not, you must look at what does the law say, not about political views about individuals,” says Malema.
