Three dead, two wounded in Cape Flats shooting

Three people have been shot dead and two others wounded during a shooting in Gugulethu on the Cape Flats.

Western Cape Police Spokesperson  Andrè Traut says they responded to the incident in Moletsane Street, New Crossroads, last night.

He says the victims’ bodies were found inside a bedroom.

Traut says the two other people have been taken to a medical facility for treatment.

“Preliminary information indicates that four armed suspects opened fire on the victims before fleeing the scene with several cellular telephones and a firearm belonging to one of the victims.”

Traut adds, “All five victims are believed to be in their 30s. The motive for the attack is still under investigation. Detectives are appealing to the public for any information that could assist in solving the case.”
