Police have arrested 14 suspects for illegally planting dagga at a five-hectare site at Babanango in northern KwaZulu-Natal.
They were arrested during a raid by the South African Police Service (SAPS) Ulundi Crime Prevention Unit and other relevant stakeholders.
Provincial police spokesperson, Captain Ntathu Ndlovu say police acted on a tip-off of regarding dagga planting activities taking place in the area.
“The recovered dagga worth thousands of rands. During the operation, 14 suspects were arrested and 10 of them were foreign nationals. Part of the SANDF uniform, machetes and processed cannabis were found in possession of the suspects. The suspects aged 19- and 40-years-old will appear at Babanango Magsitrate’s Court soon,” says Ndlovu.
