City Power resumes meter auditing programme

City Power says it has resumed its meter auditing programme to identify approximately 140 000 offline meters within the city.

The Johannesburg power utility says this initiative will also help correct billing inaccuracies and fix faulty meters to ensure that customers are able to purchase electricity.

City Power spokesperson Isaac Mangena says this initiative will help improve the overall billing system.

“City Power has taken over billing from the City of Johannesburg and we are doing this so that we can be able to address the billing inaccuracy in the past also deal with the issues of estimation and slow pays of quickly resolution. So, with this being in City Power, we have the dedicated teams that we have set up, some of them are from the City of Johannesburg and they will be dealing with cleaning up the data,” says Mangena.
