Mchunu vows to respond to Mkhwanazi’s allegations

Police Minister Senzo Mchunu has vowed to respond to allegations levelled against him by KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner, Lieutenant General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi.

The KZN police head accused Mchunu of having contacts with criminals leading to the disbanding of the Political Killings Task Team, which had been investigating high-profile murders and arresting syndicates.

Mchunu says he will not let his integrity and that of the Ministry be undermined by allegations made without evidence or without following due processes.

“Well, we have become aware of what General Mkhwanzi has said or has been saying. I did not have time to look at TV but there are these statements that he has made, we will in good time apply our minds to those kinds of statements.”

Meanwhile, Presidential spokesperson Vincent Magwenya says President Ramaphosa will attend to the statement made by the KZN police Commissioner.

The President will be attending to as soon as possible on his return from the BRICS Leaders’ Summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
