Two killed, two wounded in foiled KZN cash-in-transit heist

Two suspects have been gunned down and two others wounded in a failed cash-in-transit heist near Msinga in northern KwaZulu-Natal.

Police say the incident follows a shootout between the suspects and officers.

Provincial police spokesperson Jay Naicker says the officers were mobilised after a tip-off.

“A Mercedes-Benz with four occupants was spotted and tactically approached by the police. As the police officers approached the vehicle, they came under fire from the suspects. Following the shootout, two suspects were fatally wounded, while two were apprehended. Two unlicensed firearms, as well as ammunition, were recovered at the scene.”

Preliminary investigations have revealed that one of the arrested men is a former employee of a private security company.

The suspects will appear in the Msinga Magistrates Court soon, and investigations are ongoing.”
