Fire fighters extinguish blaze at Ekurhuleni substation

Firefighters from the City of Ekurhuleni’s Disaster and Emergency Management Services have responded to a fire at a substation in Palm Ridge Extension 6.

Upon arrival earlier today, they found the ripple control room, which houses electric breakers, engulfed in flames.

Emergency services spokesperson, William Ntladi says a team of 17 firefighters managed to extinguish the blaze without injuries or further damage.

“Intense damage was experienced inside the ripple control room housing the electrical breakers. The actual cause of the fire is undetermined and still under investigation by fire safety officers together with the City of Ekurhuleni electrical department engineers.”
