Case against a female kidnap syndicate member to resumes tomorrow

The case against a Gauteng woman believed to be part of a syndicate targeting young female professionals will resume in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court tomorrow.

The syndicate kidnaps the women and robs them of their belongings.

Recently, SABC NEWS reported on two cases in which young women were taken out on a date by an alleged scammer.

As they enter the vehicle, they find a woman whom the scammer claims is their younger sister, whom they need to drop off first before they can proceed to their date.

According to authorities, the arrested woman and a male accomplice, who’s still at large, had stopped next to a female pedestrian and allegedly forced her into their vehicle before assaulting the victim with a taser.

They then took her cellphone and removed money from her bank account.

The victim is later dropped off on the way.

In court last Tuesday, the state indicated there were two other similar cases reported in Alexandra and Pretoria.

The SABC was refused permission to broadcast court proceedings.

The State says identifying the accused would jeopardize ongoing police investigations.
