Meyiwa Trial | Feedback after accused no.3’s dentist visit

1 minute

The High Court in Pretoria is expected to hear feedback on the dental examination of accused number three, Mthobisi Mncube, as the Senzo Meyiwa murder trial continues today.

Mncube and four others are still on trial more than ten years after the 2014 murder of then Bafana Bafana captain Meyiwa.

On Monday, Judge Ratha Mokgoatlheng, ruled in favour of the application by the defence – for Mncube to go for dental examination.

However, Mncube has asked to be examined by a private dental surgeon – citing his lack of confidence in the State processes.

The request for the dental examination is an attempt for the defence to dispel the states case that Mncube had a gold tooth in 2014, as described by some witnesses.

Defence counsel, Advocate Charles Mnisi, argued that a dental examination will lead to a fair trial for the accused and that the examination will prevent wrongful convictions.

While Judge Mokgoatlheng ruled that Mncube can be examined- Mnisi however asked for a private dental practitioner.
