Accused in the former Bafana Bafana captain, Senzo Meyiwa’s murder case speak to their lawyer at the High Court in Pretoria on June 8, 2022.
The High Court in Pretoria is today expected to hear an application by Defence Counsel Charles Mnisi for the dental examination of accused number three in the former Bafana Bafana captain Senzo Meyiwa trial, Mthobisi Mncube.
This follows testimony by state witness Sergeant Moses Mabasa, who mentioned seeing a gold tooth on photographs downloaded from his phone’s memory card.
Mncube and four others are on trial for Meyiwa’s murder in 2014.
The state says an eyewitness statement mentions that one of the intruders who entered singer Kelly Khumalo’s home had a gold tooth, the night he was murdered.
This led to the submission of selfies downloaded from Mncube’s phone as evidence.
Mabasa, who has been recalled to the stand, described features on the photograph, which included a gold tooth.
The photographs are said to have been taken in September 2014, a month before Meyiwa’s murder.
Despite the images, Mncube denies ever having a gold tooth.
Instead of cross-examining the witness, Mnisi requested to bring an application for his dental examination by a medical professional.
