The family of a 36-year-old part-time Bolt driver who was murdered in Mofolo South in Soweto in May, has called on police to expedite investigations to bring justice to their loved one.

Siyabonga Dumakude was a full-time employee at a document management company and worked as an e-hailing driver for his side hustle. The vehicle he was driving was found at a different location from where his body was dumped.

The deceased’s older sister, Ntombana, says a tracking company alerted her to the suspicious movement of his car.

“We followed the car through the tracker, and when we got there, we only found the car, and he was nowhere in sight. We were told it was only the car, and we were not supposed to tamper with it until the police arrived. When I asked the tracker guys where Siyabonga was, they said he is not there; it’s only the car. Around 11PM a police officer arrived and said community members discovered a body in Mofolo South, Soweto. Before going to the scene, I asked the officer if he had taken pictures of the discovered body, and when he showed them to me, I confirmed that it was my brother.”

Provincial Police spokesperson Mavela Masondo confirmed that a murder case has been opened and police are well within their investigations.

“However, due to the case’s sensitivity, we are withholding further information from the media. For now we can only confirm that our investigation is at an advanced stage, and as a result, we cannot divulge more information because it might compromise our investigation. no arrests have been made yet.”
