The Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department (EMPD) has sent its condolences to the families of two officers who were fatally shot by armed suspects in the Umthambeka Section in Tembisa on Thursday.
EMPD spokesperson Thabiso Makgato says that the officers were allegedly on their way to pick up a colleague when they were ambushed by unknown gunmen who shot and killed them.
“The suspects stole the officers’ service pistols and fled the scene in a vehicle that was waiting for them nearby. This is disheartening and a great loss for the Ekurhuleni metro police department and the City of Ekurhuleni. Law enforcement officers are on the ground and searching for those perpetrators responsible for this heinous crime, they will be punished. Our heartfelt and sincere condolences to the bereaved families and colleagues.
