President Cyril Ramaphosa is set to visit the flood-ravaged areas in Mthatha in the Eastern Cape on Friday.

A devastating winter storm left a trail of destruction leaving at least 78 people dead.

President Ramaphosa expressed his sadness at the loss of lives and conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and those affected.

The President will be accompanied by Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (CoGTA) Minister Velenkosini Hlabisa and Eastern Cape Premier Oscar Mabuyane and will interact with the affected communities in Dicoligny, Slovo Park and Jumba Senior Secondary School.
