SANDF soldiers.
The first group of South African troops deployed to the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo as part of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) mission is expected back in the country today.
The soldiers will arrive at Air Force Base Bloemspruit in Bloemfontein around midday.
Members of the Military Command Council will accompany Defence Minister Angie Motshekga to the base to welcome the troops.
The SANDF has been part of the SADC mission in Congo to restore peace and security in the eastern parts of Congo.
However, M23 and other groupings have since captured swathes of land in Congo.
The SADC leaders decided to withdraw the mission to give peace talks a chance.
