ANC Secretary General Fikile Mbalula says the late Dr Tshenuwani Farisani will be remembered for his resilience and deep commitment to the fight against apartheid.

The 76-year-old struggle stalwart passed away last week and was laid to rest today in his home village of Maungani near Thohoyandou, Limpopo.

President Cyril Ramaphosa delivered the eulogy at the funeral, honouring Farisani’s lifelong dedication to justice and liberation.

Mbalula highlighted Farisani’s unique role in fusing theology with activism.

“Dr Farisani will be remembered forever and ever, for the contribution he has made to our struggle and today, we are celebrating his life,” Mbalula said.

“He was an architect, among others, of contextual theology which was progressive in many ways, and he gave a proper interpretation of that within the church, but also beyond the church. He understood the role of the church in the struggle for liberation,” adds Mbalula.
