Western Cape govt condemns Cape Flat mass shooting

The Western Cape Police Oversight and Community Safety Minister, Anroux Marais, has expressed deep concern following a shooting incident at the Mfuleni Taxi Rank near Khayelitsha on the Cape Flats.

Four people were killed and three others wounded in the incident this morning.

Marais says, “I condemn this senseless act and call on SAPS (South African Police Service) to pull out all the stops to ensure those responsible for this heinous act are brought to book. We cannot allow this status quo in our communities.”

Three suspects arrested in Wallacedene

Three suspects have been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting incident in Wallacedene near Kraaifontein in Cape Town.

Police spokesperson Andre Traut says three young men were killed and a fourth seriously wounded in what’s believed to be a gang-related attack.

He says the suspects are expected to appear in the Blue Downs Magistrate’s Court soon on murder charges. -Reporting by Lerato Dlalisa.
