Limpopo police say a syndicate believed to be behind a string of kidnappings targeting women in Gauteng, the Free State and Mpumalanga, has also targeted women in the province.

Police say the suspects kidnapped and robbed a woman in Lebowakgomo.

The kidnapping syndicate has been luring unsuspecting women through fake online dates, before abducting them.

Limpopo Deputy Police Commissioner for Crime Detection, Samuel Manala says the suspects drove the victim to the bush and robbed of her valuables.

Manala says the victim was able to identify the suspects on TV during Olorato Mongale’s murder reports.

“An appointment was made where they came down to Lebowakgomo and met the lady under the pretext of being in love with the lady and then they wanted a place to stay and she was taking them to one of the guest houses in Lebowakgomo. That is where on the way they deviated and took her to the veld, that is where they started robbing her. They took the cellphone and some jewelry and money. She was able to point them out after they were shown on TV after the incident of Olorato,” Manala reveals.
