Renowned actor Presley Chweneyagae’s memorial service is set to be held today at the Mmabatho Convention Centre in Mahikeng, North West.
Chweneyagae, who was affectionately known as “Cobrizi or Mokwepa”, died last Tuesday at the age of 40.
He was born in the North West in 1984.
Chweneyagae got his big international break after starring in the 2005 film Tsotsi, which earned the country its first Oscar for best foreign language film.
He will be buried on Saturday.
Family spokesperson Mzwakhe Sigudla says, “The formal program will start at 10 until two in the afternoon. There will be activities and celebrations after that, which will be concluded at a later stage and on Thursday, there will be a second memorial service, which will be at the State Theatre, Pretoria. It will start at 11 and finish at 2pm. Then the funeral is going to be at Akasia Hall, Pretoria north, which will start at eight o’clock.”- Reporting by Zebilon Maine and Thabang Morutloa.
