A crime scene cordoned-off.
Deputy Minister of Police Polly Boshielo has urged the Durban Deep community in Roodepoort in Johannesburg to come forward with any information that could help police track down the suspects responsible for the brutal murder of 14-year-old girl, Likhona Fose.
The teenager went missing on Saturday and her body was discovered the following day in an open field just a few kilometres from her home.
The tragedy has struck during Child Protection Week; a painful reminder that the country continues to lose its youth to gender-based violence and femicide.

Boshielo says tackling gender-based violence remains a top priority and that police will exhaust every possible resource to bring those responsible to justice.
“Putting a stop to gender-based violence and femicide is a national priority and that is why maximum resources are always deployed to investigate such cases and track these perpetrators. It cannot be business as usual and when women are attacked and killed on a weekly basis, there’s no way we can sit down,” adds Boshielo.
