The investigating officer in the R 255 million asbestos roof removal case has testified in the Free State High Court in Bloemfontein that at no point was Moroadi Cholota pressed to implicate former Free State premier, Ace Magashule.

He stressed that the intention of the meeting was to get a statement from her to corroborate the information that the state already had.

The trial-within-a-trial seeks to establish whether the High Court  has jurisdiction to try Cholota, who is Magashule’s former Personal Assistant.

She has submitted that her extradition from the United States (US) was unlawful.

The officer told the court that they bent over backwards to ensure that Cholota was comfortable, even going the extent of having a female Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Agent in the room so that it was not just male officers with her.
