Police in the Northern Cape have arrested four men on drug and immigration charges during Operation Vala Umgodi in Postmasburg.
The suspects include two foreign nationals and two South Africans.
This operation focused on curbing criminal activities in and around the Postmasburg landfill site, which has reportedly also been linked to cable theft incidents affecting nearby mining operations.
SAPS Provincial Spokesperson Timothy Sam says suspects will appear in the Postmasburg Magistrate’s Court soon.
“Four suspects were apprehended for violations related to immigration laws and drug dealing. During the operation, several illegal structures were dismantled. A woman and her five children were referred to the Department of Social Development for further support and care,” says Sam.
