Two suspects have been arrested in separate incidents in Ravensmead on the Cape Flats for the illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.
Police spokesperson FC Van Wyk said officers were conducting crime prevention operations when they received information about a man carrying a firearm in the area. Upon locating the suspect, a search was conducted and a firearm was recovered.
Van Wyk says, “The members returned to the same area in Parkdene Street later in a bid to conduct stop and search operations. Whilst executing duties, they saw a man running away from them in an attempt to evade them, but the members gave chase and apprehended the man who was searched. They found a revolver with ammunition in his possession, which resulted in him facing a charge for the unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition.”
Both suspects are expected to appear in the Bellville Magistrate’s Court today.
