State witness in FS asbestos case still unwell, case postponed

The trial within a trial in the R255 million asbestos roof removal case has been postponed to Wednesday in the Free State High Court, after a state witness fell ill last week and is still unwell today.

Judge Phillip Loubser was expected to deliver a ruling on whether other defence lawyers in the case can cross-examine the state witness. This comes after Laurence Hodes, who is the legal representative of former Free State premier Ace Magashule, told the court that he also wants to cross-examine the state witness.

Moroadi Cholota, who was Magashule’s PA, is challenging the legality of her extradition from the US.
