The principal of the school where slain teacher Lindiwe Ncube worked has described her as a person who stood up for others and loved unconditionally.

Ncube was shot and killed in Zandfontein, outside Honeydew, west of Johannesburg, last week, allegedly by suspects who had just robbed her neighbour.

According to police, three armed men stormed into the home of a woman who owns a spaza shop and robbed her of an undisclosed amount of cash and a cellphone. As the suspects were leaving, Ncube, who lived next door, looked out through her window and was allegedly shot.

Pre-school principal Charlene Miller pays tribute to Ncube, saying, “She would stand up for those around her and she would help them without thinking twice. Even if it cost her more, she was a caregiver to the core. She has touched so many lives.

During the week, we have had kids from all over the school coming to us to share stories of what teacher Lindi did for them. And that is a great thing. Because the lessons of love and compassion she taught them are what they are going to take in their lives and keep Lindi alive in our hearts,” Miller adds.
