The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has issued a Yellow Level 4 warning for damaging winds and waves for the Western Cape associated with an expected cold front over the weekend.

The City of Cape Town’s Disaster Risk Management spokesperson, Sonica Lategan, says people can expect strong to gale force north-westerly and westerly winds along the province’s coastline between Friday and Saturday evening.

Lategan has urged the public to be cautious for potential impacts such as uprooted trees, damage to roofs, increased risk of runaway fires and disruption of coastal activities.
