Koeberg Power Station
Eskom can run Koeberg Unit 1 for another 20 years. This is according to Electricity and Energy Minister, Kgosientsho Ramokgopa.
Ramokgopa has thanked Eskom head of Generation, Bheki Nxumalo for his commitment to ensuring that electricity supply is consistent.
Eskom CEO Dan Marokane says that for this year’s winter, there will be no loadshedding if demand remains below 13,000 MW. However, if it rises to 14,000 MW or above, Stage 1 and 2 rolling blackouts will be implemented. pic.twitter.com/isUC0kln83

He says they aim to extend the life of Koeberg Unit 2 to support efforts to sustain power supply.
“Koeberg Unit number 1 now has received the long-term operating go-ahead from the regulator. And thank you very much to Mr Nxumalo, having been at the Apex of that effort to ensure that we are able to get 20 years of additional life for Koeberg unit number one. And I am also confident that we are going to deliver the same exceptional result when it comes to Koeberg Unit number 2 that we will meet the expectations and the requirements of the regulator,” he says.
