Three deceased Free State constables.
A joint memorial service for the three Free State police constables whose bodies were found at the Hennops River near Pretoria will be held on Monday in Bloemfontein.
Keamogetswe Buys, Boipelo Senoge, and Cebekhulu Linda were reported missing for several days before their bodies were retrieved.
The families at the weekend said they were traumatised over their loss. They collected the bodies at the Pretoria Central mortuary. The families also went to the scene where the bodies were retrieved to conduct rituals to fetch their spirits.
The bodies of the deceased arrived in Bloemfontein earlier in the evening.
CEO of the Zindzi Mandela Foundation, Mkhulu Nsingiza, says the ritual of collecting the spirits of the three deceased police constables at Hennops River is a significant process. The families of three constables performed rituals at the location where the bodies were found on Sunday.
Nsingiza says performing rituals at the scene of the river where their loved ones were found, is culturally important.
“This ritual is a very important ritual that seeks to unite the physical body and the spirit. They are collecting the spirit because if it’s not done that spirit would be a wondering spirit around here, lost. The family, its their duty to do this ritual so that the departed one is not troubled forever wondering and causing accidents. That’s why in some of the places there are always accidents where people departed. Especially those souls that have never been collected from that spot.”
