A collective memorial service for the three Free State police constables whose bodies were recovered from the Hennops River in Centurion, Pretoria, will be held on Tuesday in Bloemfontein.

The officers – Keamogetswe Buys, Boipelo Senoge, and Cebekhulu Linda – had been reported missing for several days before their bodies were discovered.

All three will receive official police funerals.

Constables Senoge and Linda will be laid to rest in Bloemfontein on Thursday and Friday next week, respectively. Buys will be buried in Thaba Nchu on Saturday.

Police spokesperson Motantsi Makhele confirms the details of the memorial service. “A memorial service will be held at Bobbies Park, 02 Hannah Street, Bloemfontein and will start at 12:00. The South African Police Service and the Free State provincial government extend their deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of the fallen members. Their passing touched the country deeply, but their dedication and contribution will never be forgotten.”

The families of the constables will travel to Gauteng province on Sunday to fetch their bodies.

The trio went missing on 23 April after they left Bloemfontein on their way to Limpopo, where Buys and Linda were based.

The search for the missing constables tragically ended when their bodies and later the parts of the vehicle they were travelling in were recovered from the river earlier this week.
