NHI will benefit workers: Ramaphosa

African National Congress (ANC) president Cyril Ramaphosa has assured COSATU members that the National Health Insurance (NHI) is aimed at benefiting workers.

He has also thanked COSATU for supporting and standing firm on its policies that include the Expropriation and BELA acts.

He was speaking at the Workers’ Day celebrations in Middleburg, Mpumalanga, ahead of COSATU president Zingiswa Losi’s keynote address.

“We want to thank you for standing firm on issues such as the National Health Insurance. We thank you for having stood firm to make sure that that law is signed and that law is passed and to also say that law is going to be implemented.”

Workers’ Day Rally 2025:

ANC spokesperson Mahlengi Bhengu-Motsiri says that the party and its alliance partners will continue to advance workers’ rights.

She was speaking ahead of the Workers Day celebrations in Middleburg.

“In making sure that we have the Labor Relations Act 1996, ensuring that we have got the Basic Conditions of Employment Act, ensuring that we have the Employment Equity Act, which, unfortunately today, you have a party called the Democratic Alliance, that has gone to court on the eve of Workers’ Day, to seek to reverse the Employment Equity Act.”
