Bicycles at a school.
The three Limpopo cyclists who recently cycled from Burgersfort to Cape Town, have received a hero’s welcome at Ga-Mathabatha village outside Lebowakgomo.
Gauta Mahlakwane, Karabo Makoo and Maxwell Ndou, were in the spotlight when they embarked on a 1700-kilometre long journey to the Mother City.
This was to raise awareness about the fight against substance abuse, gender-based violence (GBV) and gangsterism in the country.
The cyclists say the love and encouragement from South Africans spurred them on as their gallant campaign took a physical and emotional toll on them.
Meanwhile, Ga-Mathabatha community members say Mahlakwana has shone a light on their village.
The welcoming ceremony was sponsored by local businesspeople.
