A person donating blood at a SANBS facility
The South African National Blood Service (SANBS) is embarking on an Easter Family Blood Bond to encourage families to donate blood together this long weekend.
SANBS Communications Manager Musiiwa Denga says they are appealing for blood donations due to the drop experienced especially over holiday periods.
Denga says this will also be a build-up for winter as less people tend to donate blood during the season.
“It is particularly important for us to have this campaign because people are on holiday or are travelling which often leads to a drop in blood donations while the need for blood remains constant. Through this campaign SANBS is encouraging families to donate blood together – turning this meaningful season into an opportunity to save lives,” say Denga.
