The Mthatha High Court has stopped evictions of Walter Sisulu University students from student residences.
The Walter Sisulu University Student Representative Council (SRC) made an urgent application to stop the eviction of students from university residences.
The ruling come after campus management instructed students to vacate the premises by 4 pm today (Friday).
The eviction order comes in the wake of violent student protests that broke out on Tuesday morning, leading to the tragic death of a male student.
The judge has resolved to interdict the university from evicting the students, but also issued an order interdicting the students from vandalising university property.
